At East Coast Surf Products, we want to make your buying experience as pleasant as possible. Buying a surfboard can be confusing and even overwhelming, especially when you purchase on-line. We are here to help. If you have any questions on types of boards, shapes, construction, or materials, just drop us a line or give us a call, and we’ll help in any way we can. We guarantee unsurpassed quality and value and "best in class" customer service.
Surfboard Types – There are many different types of surfboards made from many different materials. There are shortboards, fish, hybrids, mini-longboards and longboards. There is even a retro-fish, which is a replica of the original wider twin fin fish. There is even a surfboard type called a gun, which is a longer narrower special high performance board for "big waves". Some guns are 11 feet long!
What should you buy?
If you are a beginner, we recommend a longboard. A longboard is not a beginner board, but rather a style. That being said, it is easier to learn on a longboard, because it is more stable, and it is easier to catch waves. Remember, it's all about having fun, and not getting frustrated. The quicker you are up and riding, the more fun you will have. As you improve, you might want to move to a shorter performance board, which will allow more aggressive moves throughout different parts of the wave.
If you like to move around on the board and like those long carving turns and toes on the nose, then you might want to stick with a longboard. Some of the best surfers in the world ride and compete on longboards.
Remember, the bigger and thicker the board, the easier it is to paddle, and the more stable it will be when you stand up. If you are an intermediate surfer, or a smaller beginner, you might want to start with a hybrid, a mini-longboard or a fish. All three types will allow you to catch waves more easily, but will also allow more aggressive movement and quicker turning on a wave than a longboard.
Construction and Materials – At East Coast Surf Products, our boards are made from only the best foam blanks, resins, and fiberglass available. We feature Eskimo foam or other fine blanks, resins, and fiberglass from the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. All of our boards are hand-shaped and glassed. We don’t use molds or pop-outs. Our boards have genuine wood stringers for additional strength and flexibility.
Our world renowned craftsmen have many years of design and shaping experience, and constantly keep up with the latest technologies and trends.
You can access the East Coast Surf Products blog for occasional information and articles on surfboard types, shapes, characteristics and materials. We also welcome your comments and suggestions.
100% Satisfaction Guaranteed – If you’re not happy, we’re not happy – it’s that simple. As long as the surfboard has not been used, and is still in new condition, we’ll take it back within a 15 day period. You must be responsible for shipping costs back to our warehouse.
The board must be returned with the original receipt and in the original box. Don't get rid of the original box and packing materials until you are absolutely sure. If you use the board, and you’re still not happy (highly unlikely), we’ll work things out. Just give us a call or drop us a line. Contact us at info@eastcoastsurfproducts.com

There are many reputable schools and camps to choose from. You can find them on the internet or in surfing magazines. We strongly recommend Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. You'll have a great time surfing, and enjoying everything that Witch's Rock has to offer. We have visited Joe Walsh and his crew for the last three years in a row. They do a great job with their teaching and their surf tours, and you can't beat the location, steps away from a beautiful Tamarindo beach break. You can contact Joe and his friends at www.witchsrocksurfcamp.com.
